When any business embarks on a software development project, it's pretty daunting. Often, the people within your organisation
will give you an assurance something like: "This time we will make sure that the developers are completely 'wrapped up' ". The idea is that
you can somehow contract for a satisfactory result similar to, say, when you undertake a building project.
Well, why can't you?
The main problem is simply one of inadequate communication. How to get a shared understanding of what the system will do? The cost of producing a
requirement specification (contractual document describing the system to be developed) normally consumes a significant proportion of the project budget. Inevitably,
not everything is taken into account, and extra costs result. As the project progresses, new issues are raised. Suddenly, what seemed so straightforward
becomes complex. The budget blows out
and the project costs much more than you expected, or is cancelled.
So, what's the answer?
Whether you choose to develop a custom-built application or use a package (previously written system) depends on your business requirement.
-
There are many ready made packages available; many of these are free. It's best to choose a
Web-based Application.
- Or you can develop your own application from scratch. Use our services and we'll use the
Prototyping Method to develop the application together.
